Camden Street Pastors
A meeting will take place in January 2012 for those interested in the relaunch of this initiative. The Borough Commander sent out a letter inviting churches to consider possible involvement – prayer support as well as volunteering as a Street Pastor or joining a Management Committee. We were asked to contact Michael.reynolds@met.police.uk preferably before the end of November. Jules Musoki cfbc.office@btconnect.com of Chalk Farm Baptist Church was previously trained as a Street Pastor and may be able to share his experience of working in Camden Town. Or see www.streetpastors.co.uk

Camden Police Prayer Breakfast
The Camden police have been facilitating prayer meetings with local church leaders.
The next is Thursday 12 January 8.30 for 9am – 12 noon at Only Connect Theatre 32, Cubitt St, WC1X OLR.

North London Citizens first Annual Assembly was held end November 2011.
A number of Camden churches, schools and other religious and community groups are or are considering becoming members of this newest of the London Citizens chapters.

Some of us were involved in singing with Bernadette Farrell and the Eastern Area Singers at the launch of the first chapter, TELCO in East London, 15 years ago! And have since sung in support of campaigns like the Living Wage at City Hall, Tate Modern and Paddington hotels.

North London Citizens is a powerful alliance of schools and universities, churches, mosques and synagogues that has been built to take action together for the common good of our local area and beyond.
Citizens UK Head Office is at 112 Cavell Street, London, E1 2JA. T: 020 7043 9881.

Friday Night Project at St Michaels
A number of small churches are getting together to make St Michaels Camden Town open to the public on the last Friday of each month. The church is open from 10pm until at least 2am. There are normally some sort of creative prayer stations available as well as music and free refreshments. The aim of is to connect with people who come out for Camden night life, and to motivate and enable the church to meet/pray/love these people. The event has been running for the last 8 months or so and they have had in that time several thousand people through the doors, all asking questions about God or being open to talk about faith. Please drop by and connect with God’s love for the people of Camden. Helpers welcome – setting up from 7.30pm – and also prayer support for this project. Contact Steve at camdencommunity@gmail.com.

Giving Christian books to your community
Speaking volumes
is a scheme particularly suited to Churches Together groups for an ecumenical project. They will help you to donate new Christian books to schools and libraries in your community. They have pre-selected book lists available at just 50% of the normal retail price. Their charity funds the remainder and includes free book protectors, book plates, book marks etc. Books carefully selected by experts are on a variety of subjects across the Christian spectrum and are suitable for a range of libraries including prisons, hospices, care homes, toddler groups, primary and secondary schools as well as your public library.

Christians Together in Camden donated books to Camden libraries in this way in the year 2000. Details: T: 01223 832761, E: info@speakingvolumes.org.uk,
