Cold Weather Shelter

C4WS started in January 2005 as a church based seasonal accommodation project providing emergency shelter for people who are homeless. The project now runs between 1st November and 31st March every year creating a ‘rolling shelter’ that provides emergency accommodation to street homeless and ‘hidden homeless’. Several Camden based churches combine their efforts at 7 different church locations to provide overnight shelter one night a week offering food and fellowship as well as shelter and practical help and advice to establish a route out of homelessness.

The C4WS shelters close between 22/12 and 30/12 with CRISIS bridging the gap over Christmas and a different church rota picking up for the new year.

In addition to those hosting a night shelter, there are already other churches involved in C4WS providing volunteers, cooking meals, donating money or goods. And there's usually a couple of times of prayer, reflection and thanksgiving for the project to which all are invited.

No longer just a cold weather shelter, the C4WS Homeless Project is now an all year round project offering shelter from November to March PLUS Mentoring and befriending to previous guests that have stayed at the shelter, English classes for speakers of foreign languages and a weekly lunch time club. Many churches in Camden are now involved in providing food and shelter during the winter months. Please support the project with donations (money & useful items), volunteering & prayer.

NB with its development and expansion C4WS has changed its name, website and email address.
