Opportunities to learn about and share with neighbours of other faiths

Faiths Act
is the multi-faith social action programme of the Tony Blair Foundation. http://www.tonyblairfaithfoundation.org/pages/faiths-act

Spearheaded by 30 young leaders drawn from different faiths from the US, UK, and Canada, it mobilises people of faith to work together on issues of health and global poverty in order to help achieve the UN’s Millennium Development Goals. Their initial focus is the eliminating of deaths from malaria. The London Faiths Act was launched 18th November during Interfaith Week.

Two London Faiths Act Fellows Muslim Nadeem Javaid and Christian Nicola Minford are based in Vauxhall with their host organization, the Christian Muslim Forum. But the other two are based in Camden: Jewish Natasha Steele and Roman Catholic Myriam Volk are hosted by Tzedek at the Jewish Social Action Hub, Haskell House, 152 West End Lane, NW6 1SD.

They are organizing 2 events in December
Friday 11th December: Human Rights Shabbat an interfaith Friday-night dinner when they will look at health as a human right. Download poster

Thursday 17th December (in the middle of Chanukah, a week before Christmas and shortly after Eid) we are hosting ‘Wrap Up’: we will ask people to donate goods for a Woman & Child shelter in London. Volunteers will then come together on the evening of the 17th to wrap the donations up nicely in shoeboxes, followed by a pudding party which will give us an opportunity to consider the link between women & children in need in our local community and the danger malaria poses to women & children in other countries. Inter Faith Week and Islam Awareness Week 15 - 21 November
Proposed in the Department for Communities and Local Government document "Face to Face and Side by Side" this was announced publicly 24 March 2009.

The International Day of Tolerance (16 November) fell during the Week and the Week overlapped with the longstanding and widely marked Islam Awareness Week. A key theme of IAW this year was inter faith dialogue, highlighting the ways in which Muslims are working with other faith communities and promoting good inter faith relations as well as engaging with wider society.

Representatives of Camden's Faith Communities were invited to have breakfast at the Town Hall on the Thursday of Inter Faith Week and we were pleased to meet old friends and make new Interfaith Connections.
