Fairtrade in Camden and beyond

With Camden a Fairtrade Borough since 2004 and London declared the world's largest Fairtrade City in October 2008, as well as all major Christian denominations supporting Fairtrade, it is important that we consider what we can do as individuals and churches to contribute to a fairer world through trade as well as aid and campaigning.

For more information on Fairtrade see the Camden Council website www.camden.gov.uk/fairtrade and Fairtrade Foundation www.fairtrade.org.uk

The Camden Fairtrade Network Steering Group is currently trying to improve links with Faith Communities and Educational Establishments - schools, colleges and universities - so please tell us what you are doing, let us have contact details for your Fairtrade rep and sign up to the network's mailing list as individuals or groups. To subscribe to our "MailChimp" newsletter click here.

The next meeting of the Steering Group is Wednesday 14 December 6 - 8pm at Camden Town Hall, Judd Street. New members always welcome - or send us your ideas. camdenfairtrade@googlemail.com.

On the agenda:
Fairtrade Fortnight 2012 - see separate page

Olympics
The London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) have decided that all the tea, coffee, sugar and bananas served at official sites and venues will be Fairtrade. The Camden Fairtrade Network is hoping to encourage hotels and cafes (especially in Bloomsbury where press are to be based) to be part of this global vision for a truly fair Olympics and to also use Fairtrade products in their establishments. Please consider how you could help with this project.

See separate page for some past events - stalls at street festivals, film shows and parties at Camden Town Hall, Give and Take Days, talks in schools, joining in London Fairtrade Campaign events.

We are always in need of volunteers. If you can help run Fairtrade stalls or give talks to schools or take part in conferences etc please let us know.
