Fairtrade

The Fairtrade and Trade Justice pages (see below) cover events and activities in Camden churches and the wider Camden Fairtrade Network and raise issues of Fairtrade and Trade Justice.

Shared Interest
Established in 1990, Shared Interest Society is the world’s only 100 per cent fair trade lender. Working on a global scale, this financial co-operative has its headquarters in Newcastle upon Tyne, as well as regional offices in Costa Rica, Kenya and Peru. With more than 8,700 UK members investing anything from £100 to £20,000, Shared Interest is able to pool these funds and help developing countries trade their way out of poverty. Last year, over £30 million reached fair trade businesses overseas as investment was lent several times over to different organisations in disadvantaged communities. As Supporter Relations Officer for the South East, Sally Reith is available to speak at events, run activities and give presentations about Shared Interest’s work and how you can get involved. For example, by making an investment in Shared Interest, UK residents can fund business skills training for coffee makers in Uganda and much, much more.
